In 2021 music-NFT startups popped up like mushrooms, offering a variety of business cases like NFTS for collectors’ art, digital collectibles and merchandise, fractional ownership as a crowdfunding source, as tickets for enhanced customer experiences and against counterfeiting. The common thread in all of these cases is that artists get direct access to fans AND their data, leading to a paradigm shift after 20 years of centralized platform economy, with platforms owning customer data and creating the widely discussed value gap. This 2nd ESNS NFT-session will focus on the recorded and the live side of music business: First we are happy to welcome neo-classical composer and performer Cristina Spinei and electronic music producer RODG, who both led their fans into their own metaverse with custom NFT campaigns. Marketing and content expert Markus Schäfer (the content dome GmbH, un1k.art) will be in conversation with both of the artists to learn about their direct to fan NFT experiences and perspectives Then we will explore NFT in ticketing: session moderator and music tech veteran Amke Block will discuss NFT-opportunities with extras for fans with Olivier Biggs from NFT-ticketing pioneer GET Protocol.

    Cristina Spinei

    Cristina Spinei is a Juilliard-trained composer who has written for numerous orchestras and chamber ensembles. She is best known for her work with dance, having been commissioned by the Nashville Ballet, Parsons Dance, the New York Choreographic Institute, the Pacific Northwest Ballet, and many more. Self-described as “minimalish,” Cristina anchors her musical ideas in melody, movement, and loops, informed by her love of multimedia collaboration. Her work Prelude, recorded by the Gateway Chamber Orchestra, was the first new orchestral piece to be released as an NFT. Cristina’s other NFTs include a programmable string quartet for Async Art, audiovisual Triptych with artist Marterium, and Occulta Verba — an audiovisual cryptogram created with artist luxpris.

The internet was barely part of it until Blockchain-technology and the NFT-concept became relevant as serious game changers for creative content and its true value for artists and fans. Markus is a full-fledged marketing- & content-expert, who has been working in the realms of content, brands and media for the past 30 years - from various positions at BMG Ariola, The Walt Disney Company EMEA and [PIAS] Recordings to independent consulting for OTTO Group, InBev, STAGE Entertainment, G+J, Warner Strategic Marketing, Union Investment, Reeperbahnfestival, audiomagnet etc.. As an independent entrepreneur he co-founded the content dome GmbH and HO3RRAUM Media in 2013 and 2014, two production companies for immersive entertainment experiences. His latest venture is UN1K.ART - the NFT-agency, which he co-founded in 2021.
