De Raad voor Cultuur (hierna: Raad) wil de komende periode oplossingen ontwerpen voor een aantal gesignaleerde problemen in de cultuursector. Daarbij horen: een gezonde arbeidsmarkt; een inhoudelijke inrichting van het gesubsidieerde bestel waarin ook popcultuur een passende plaats vindt; een betere samenwerking tussen de verschillende overheden (landelijk en regionaal). In dit gesprek willen we het vooral hebben over het tweede punt. De andere twee komen ongetwijfeld ook aan bod. De Raad wil de komende periode alternatieven voor het huidige bestel verkennen om vervolgens te kunnen adviseren over een nieuw of verbeterd bestelontwerp voor de periode vanaf 2025. De Raad zal hierbij o.a. gebruikmaken van informatie de ze ook ophaalt uit dit gesprek. Hoe worden programmerende organisaties in de popsector het beste ondersteund? Hoe ontwikkelen we duurzaam talent? Hoe worden popkunstenaars in alle fases van hun carrière het beste ondersteund? Hoe ziet het ideale popbeleid van de toekomst eruit? Voor het bedenken van nieuwe ideeën moeten we ontsnappen aan vaste denkpatronen (lees: de manier waarop het bestel nu is ingericht of de gedachte: ‘geef mij maar zoveel mogelijk geld dan komt het wel goed’).Speakers

Jolanda Beyer Patronaat
Jolanda Beyer is since 2020 the director of music venue Patronaat in Haarlem, and also board member of festival Bevrijdingspop Haarlem and the brand new venue Slachthuis in Haarlem. In the past she has worked for a number of festivals and venues, such as Oerol Festival at Terschelling, De Balie in Amsterdam, amongst other non-profit organisations. Patronaat is a medium sized music venue with three halls, with a total capacity of 1.250 visitors. Patronaat is known for it’s remarkable line-up each year, with bookings not only inside the building but also at ten locations in the nearby area of the venue such as churches, amfitheatres, beach stages and theatres. -
Kristel Baele National Council for Culture
Kristel Baele is President of the National Council for Culture. She graduated in Political and Social Sciences at the University of Ghent and in Sociology at the University of Antwerp. After moving to the Netherlands Kristel held various executive roles in higher education, most recently as President of the Board at the Erasmus University Rotterdam. In addition, she was a member of the advisory board of the Dutch organisation for internationalisation in education (Nuffic) and a member of the advisory board VSB-funds. Between 2010 and 2018 Kristel held a seat in the Dutch Council for Education. Alongside her work at the Council for Culture, she is currently part of the Supervisory Board of The Hague University of Applied Sciences, amongst other non-executive roles. Kristel is a member of the selection committee for the Deltapremie, a prestigious research prize. -
Yael Watchman muzikant
Yael Watchman is zangeres en songwriter, en heeft samengewerkt met onder anderen Emma Bale, Tom Martin, Ruben Pol en Tinlicker. Daarnaast is ze bestuurslid van BAM! Popauteurs (Beroepsvereniging voor Auteur-Muzikanten) en IE-jurist. Dynamische bezigheden die allen om één en hetzelfde focuspunt draaien: muziek!
