The German live music market has changed over the years as new players enter the scene. This panel will ask three promoters how they are dealing with the new situation as well as the other challenges of the touring business such as territory regulations, artist fees, market saturation and competition from the festival season.



  • Ben Mitha

    Ben Mitha Karsten Jahnke Konzertdirektion (DE)

    Born 1987 as grandson of Karsten Jahnke, one of Germany’s biggest independent promoters and pioneer of the German live industry, Ben Mitha grew up with a love for music. During his studies Ben Mitha founded the full service event company Digga Events, while also becoming more involved in the daily business at KJ.

    After finishing his studies in 2011, Ben started working as one of the company’s international bookers and became one of the company’s managing directors in 2014. While his grandfather is a jazz enthusiast, Ben Mitha´s specific love lies in the Genres HipHop, Pop, R&B and Urban Music. So the KJ roster nowadays features acts like Wu Tang Clan, Cypress Hill, J Cole, Galantis, NAS, House of Pain and many others. At the same time Ben maintains his grand father´s open-minded approach towards all musical styles and oversees a roster of 66 international acts, including Peter Gabriel, The Cure, Portishead, Craig David, Erasure, Jack & Jack as well as domestic acts like Johannes Oerding, Max Giesinger and Michael Patrick Kelly.

  • Ioannis Panagopoulos

    Ioannis Panagopoulos Live Nation GSA (DE)

    Ioannis "Pana" Panagopoulos is the Director of A&R at Live Nation GSA. He has previously worked at Marek Lieberberg Konzertagentur and Wizard Promotions.

  • Yan Mangels

    Yan Mangels FKP Scorpio (DE)

    Yan Mangels is promoter at FKP Scorpio`s German office. Originally starting as a local promoter in the German DIY-scene, later becoming an independent promoter for the rising German rap-underground in the mid 90`s with companies like MZEE-Booking and “Wir kuemmern uns” . Joining FKP Scorpio in 2007 meant making a complete change in the roster, nowadays representing acts like alt-j, Alice Phoebe Lou, Balthazar, Fat Freddys Drop, Jacob Collier, Madrugada, Miya Folick, Parov

    Stelar, Tamino, Tom Grennan and Yann Tiersen to name a few from different genres.


  • Dietmar Schwenger

    Dietmar Schwenger MusikWoche (DE)

    Dietmar Schwenger was born in Bochum in 1969. He studied German literature and philosophy and worked as a musician. In 1999 he moved to Munich where he started working as an editor for the German music industry magazine MusikWoche. The weekly B2B-publication covers the complete range of the music industry – recorded music, publishing and live entertainment. Schwenger writes a lot about the live scene and covers international business events. He also hosted many panels at events like Eurosonic Noorderslag, Reeperbahn Festival, Amsterdam Dance Event, Popkomm, Musikmesse Frankfurt and Buchmesse Frankfurt.
