Van managers lijkt tegenwoordig het onmogelijke gevraagd te worden. Het lijkt alsof rechters (zie Martin Garrix, zie Afrojack) vinden dat een manager een positie heeft, waarbij hij of zij altijd het belang van de artiest boven dat van de manager zelf moet stellen. Dat maakt bijvoorbeeld een contractverlenging een moeizame exercitie. Ook moeten managers vaak lastige afwegingen maken tussen het korte en lange termijnbelang van de artiest en de belangen behartigen van de grote onderneming die is opgezet rond de artiest. Gaat het belang van de artiest altijd voor? En moet je dan nog wel manager willen zijn of worden?
