NFT’s & The Metaverse, step into the future at ESNS 2022

As we look forward to hosting our ESNS 2022 conference panels in just a few weeks, we want to give you a glimpse of what’s coming and dive into our Conference Programme. Step into the future with us and find out all about what our speakers expect to happen in the music industry in the next few years.

NFT! WTF?: A complex topic put simple
Blockchain-based non-fungible tokens (NFTs) have been THE hype in 2021. And if you haven’t slept under a rock for the past year, you will at least have heard of NFTs, likely in connection with a breath-taking amount of money that some crypto geek has paid for a digital file. So what are NFTs all about?’s own Amke Block and Markus Schaefer will guide us through the theory behind NFTs, and make it understandable and interesting for all of us. Besides these two experts, ESNS invited another visionary to the NFT laboratory: Maarten Walraven, from Music x and GÂRDEN.

Once we find out what NFTs are, the next step is finding out what to do with them. The panel ‘Closing The Value Gap With NFTs’ dives deeper into the question of how to own your audience and how to reach them directly. On this subject, we invite neo-classical composer and performer Cristina Spinei and electronic music producer RODG, who both led their fans into their own metaverse with custom NFT campaigns; a conversation hosted by Markus Schaefer. Session moderator Amke Block will discuss NFT-opportunities with extras for fans with Olivier Biggs from NFT-ticketing pioneer GET Protocol in the same panel, closing the gap between knowing what NFTs are, and how to actually use them wisely.

A Dutch panel that looks into the question whether NFTs are a hype or something to stay, is NFT’s: Hype of de toekomst van de muziekindustrie? This session, organised by STOMP, with Guillaume Warmerdam of Lab Music and Luciano Winter of Stormi Capital, will give us some specific tips and tricks for financing music in a new way.

Another frequently heard word is The Metaverse. In our in-depth session ‘The Metaverse and What it Means to Your Business’, our all-female panel will explain what it is, what it does, and what it could mean to you and the future of your business, whether you’re a label, publisher, booker or event organiser. Natasha Greenhalgh of Nxt Museum, Cortney Harding of Friends With Holograms, and Heather Shaw of Vita Motus, will bring host Gary Smith and our audience up to speed on what’s yet to come with The Metaverse.

To actually look into the future or into The Metaverse, we need some help. Our Hands-On VR and AR Experiential Session invites you to go deep into virtual worlds and see for yourself what’s going on, on the other side of the mirror.
