Floris Vermeulen is the Music Secretary at the Fonds Podiumkunsten, serving as the main point of contact and representative for the music sector. He is the subject matter expert responsible for preparing the review of grant applications for the advisory committees at the funding office. Floris plays an active role in the development and implementation of the Fonds Podiumkunsten’s policies. For example, he was involved in the creation of initiatives and programs such as the Urban Projects program, the subsidy framework for the financial sustainability of mid-sized ensembles, and Upstream: Music.

Floris studied bass guitar at the Conservatory of Groningen and has worked as a bassist, producer, composer, and arranger across various genres, including hip-hop, jazz, raï, experimental music, and multimedia. He is also the founder of the bands Electric Barbarian and Cousin X.
