Henk Willem Smits is a financial and economic journalist at the Dutch investigative outlet Follow the Money (ftm.eu). He specialises in tax avoidance by multinationals and wealthy individuals, private equity, electronic music culture and the entertainment industry, among other things. Smits started out as a pop journalist for the Dutch regional newspaper Dagblad van het Noorden, is a fervent record collector and even packed the goody bags of the Noorderslag conference in the nineties. His recent work includes articles about private equity company KKR buying out festivals in Europe and successful musicians avoiding taxes via the Netherlands.
