Ingrid van Engelshoven is an experienced policy maker and strategic advisor in the field of culture, with a strong background in public governance and international cultural policy. She served as the Dutch Minister of Education, Culture and Science from 2017 to 2022, where she was responsible for national policy on culture, media, heritage and the creative industries. During her tenure, she played a key role in strengthening the cultural infrastructure, improving the position of creators, and safeguarding artistic freedom and access to culture. Prior to her ministerial role, she was Deputy Mayor (Alderman) of the City of The Hague, where she held a broad portfolio. Currently, Ingrid van Engelshoven works as an advisor for the cultural sector at Blueyard. In this capacity, she advises local, regional and national governments on cultural policy, governance and long-term strategy. She also serves as Chair of the Dutch Alliance for the Performing Arts, where she brings together stakeholders across the sector to advocate for a strong, resilient and future-oriented performing arts ecosystem. With her extensive experience in politics, public administration and the cultural field, Ingrid van Engelshoven is widely regarded as a knowledgeable and committed leader in cultural policy.
