Project Lead, Institute for NightCulture (inc.)
Jalien is a social designer focused on night culture and community building. As Project Lead at the Institute of Night Culture and a representative of the Nightmakers within the Amsterdam Night Council, she works toward a future-proof nightlife ecosystem. Her work addresses topics such as social safety, fair working conditions for night workers, and the archiving of club culture.
In addition, Jalien collaborates with Foundation 10,000 Hours, where she bridges social work and music events. Within this program, she teaches young people how to organize events and co-create with target audiences to foster meaningful connection and engagement.
Driven by a love for the night, Jalien advocates for the power of gathering after dark and the exploration of liminal spaces. Her projects aim to nurture these experiences, creating room for connection, experimentation, and collective imagination.
