Jooz

Jooz is a Groningen-based artist blending hip-hop and R&B with Moluccan and Dutch influences. His music translates personal history into songs that balance vulnerability and strength, shaped by layered lyricism and catchy melodies. He made a strong impact with his debut album and accompanying theatre production Maluku Boeren Saus, which sold out venues and included a widely shared spoken-word piece on Moluccan history. In 2025, he followed up with the interdisciplinary project Maju Terus, touring theatres across the Netherlands. Largely self-produced and self-managed, Jooz combines artistic autonomy with social engagement. His distinctive voice earned him a nomination for the Groninger Talent Prize in 2024.
