Data in the music business are of great importance, but sometimes getting hold of data and making sense of it isn’t so straightforward. This panel will take a highly practical and actionable look at the current state of CMO data in multiple territories. Followed by proposing ways creators and their teams should access and utilise that data to identify missing money, spot problems, and add value. Along the way we will look at some of the current problems and identify possible solutions. For many creators and their teams having clear and actionable approaches to using data to drive increased value for their creative output is great in theory but harder in practice. We have been carrying out detailed research in this area for some time now and want to communicate strategies and best practices. As well as making the wider communities or songwriters, artists and managers aware of some of the “hidden” pitfalls in this area. It also helps in saving time and frustration as well as hopefully influencing CMO adoption of more user friendly and unified standards for presentation of this critical data.
