Alzira Schaap is team member of the European Green Deal Circular Festivals (GDCF). The GDCF stands for a future-proof, circular and climate neutral festival industry. The 50 ambitious European festivals, from 17 countries, that participate in this Green Deal are frontrunner in their countries. They collaborate in their journey to become circular and climate neutral, supported by the government of the Netherlands. The festivals focus on five themes: energy, food and drinks, travel and transportation, materials and water. They share knowledge, monitor their impact and have developed a model of a circular and climate neutral festival. As microcosm, festivals offer a testing ground for circular innovation and experiments; a model for other events, sectors and cities. Alzira works for Royal HaskoningDHV as a public-private network developer (living learning networks), a programme manager sustainable transitions and as moderator/facilitator of workshops.
