Mark van Bergen is an expert in electronic music culture and in media, with over 20 years of professional experience. Since 2016, he has extended his expertise as a lecturer at the Fontys Academy for the Creative Economy in his hometown of Tilburg. Here, he manages an exchange program tailored for bachelor students aspiring to carve out careers behind the scenes of the electronic dance music industry. In 2022, he embarked on his maiden academic research endeavor, exploring the impact of attending electronic music events on individuals' well-being at Tilburg University. As a journalist, Mark has been writing about dance music and party culture since 2000. For his book debut ‘Dutch Dance’ (2013), he received the Pop Media Prize at ESNS, the most important award for music journalism in Holland. In 2018, the book got its international successor, celebrating 30 years of house music at the infamous Amsterdam Dance Event.
