Max Alper aka Peretsky is a composer, educator, and writer based in Hudson Valley, NY. He holds an MFA in Sonic Arts from the Conservatory of Music at Brooklyn College and has been teaching music composition and technology for both adults and children for over 12 years. He is the co-host of the Critical Listening podcast with author Liz Pelly. He is the creator of the Group Critique Fight Club sonic arts clinic that has been running for 5 years as an outlet for aspiring and professional artists to share their works in progress in an unironically safe space outside the academy. His latest LP, "It Doesn't Get Cold In October Anymore", was released in June 2025 on Whited Sepulchre Records.
