Nerea Palomares holds a PhD in Psychology from the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) and a MA in Affective Neuroscience from Maastricht University and the Università degli Studi di Firenze. She is a health psychologist specialized in artists and musicians and has been working in her private clinic for more than 17 years. She worked for 10 years at a public hospital in Madrid in the research unit of the psychiatry department, specializing in borderline personality disorder. She is an associate professor at the Faculty of Psychology of the UCM and a master’s lecturer at the Higher Institute of Psychological Studies. She is a member of the Collective of Therapists of the Music Industry (MITC), of MIM (Women in the Music Industry), and of the Spanish Association of Psychology of Music and Musical Performance (AEPMIM), and has given talks on mental health and music at institutions such as Warner, Teatro Real, and the María Pagés Dance Foundation. She organizes therapeutic retreats for musicians and hosts a podcast on artists and mental health (Podcast Afinadamente), in addition to raising awareness on social media about the importance of mental health in the music industry. She is the author of the children’s story Guillermo el Globito. She was a singer for more than 15 years.
