Sherif El Safoury (he/him) is the diversity & inclusion coördinator at cultural venue Melkweg in Amsterdam. Together with his colleagues, he is involved in everything that is necessary to make the Melkweg a more inclusive organization. Staffing currently has the highest priority. The ambition and challenge is to diversify the workforce, but also making sure there is a healthy and inclusive workclimate so that everyone who works at the Melkweg feels welcome and safe and can be themselves. The Melkweg strives to have Amsterdam’s diversity reflected in their staff, thereby being just as inclusive and diverse in terms of workforce as they are in terms of program and audience.
