Bed Rugs
ESNS: 2014
This five-piece from Antwerp is a band with many different faces. The band was formed in 2005 as The Porn Bloopers. After making it to the final of Belgium's biggest music competition, Humo's Rock Rally in 2008 they changed their name to Bed Rugs, a reference to the film, The Big Lebowski. Their debut album 8th Cloud, which sounds like a muscled version of the Beatles' Revolver, followed in 2012. They scored a hit with first single, What Does It Mean? which ensured them gigs at the biggest Belgian festivals and an international tour. Their follow-up album Rapids was released in May 2013 and with it we are introduced to a new side of them, seeing them dive deeper into seventies psychedelic rock, moving in the direction of Syd Barrett.
