Boy Azooga is a shape-shifting musical mystery tour piloted by Cardiff’s Davey Newington. Their debut album, 1,2 Kung Fu! was released mid 2018 through Heavenly Recordings. Davey took up drums at the age of six and also enjoyed orchestral arrangement, playing in various Welsh orchestra’s and jazz bands as a teenager. Taking musical cues from the likes of Sly and The Family Stone, Caribou, Black Sabbath, Outkast, Ty Segall and The Beastie Boys, the Boy Azooga live quartet swings smoothly from filmic instrumentals to a churning, rave-tinged rock that hints at both Can and the Happy Mondays.
