A sum of her many parts, Carmen Villain is the moniker singer/songwriter Carmen Hillestad. Making ethereal yet challenging music, her debut album, Sleeper, was released last year via Smalltown Supersound to critical acclaim. Playing with loops, vocals and drum machines, her distinctive and unique sound is tempestuous, psychedelic and dreamlike with a defiantly DIY underground overtone. Carmen is currently working on her second album, which she is producing and recording herself. The album is due out in 2015.
