France
Chateau Marmont
ESNS: 2012
Sounds like a good wine: Chateau Marmont. It isn't, yet these four Frenchmen have matured their friendship, taste in music and also their influences for many years. That is how they sound, like vintage melancholia. They come from a time when people still believed in the future. When there were better visions of 2011 than today's reality. A time when the proto French Touch, helmed by Space and Jean-Michel Jarre, dominated the airwaves. The Alan Parsons Project and classic French soundtracks (think Francis Lai) still radiate through the music of the childhood friends. Their synth music is released by hip record labels like Kitsuné and Institubes. When listening to their music there is a warning that you may suddenly be overtaken by the question what happened to Buck Rogers, and especially his little friend Twiki.
