Daughter
ESNS: 2012
A daughter to be proud of. Elena Tonra spent the days of her youth listening to her parent’s vinyl collections and older brother’s rock CD's. She later discovered the beauty of acoustic and folk inspired music and started to create stories and poems which formed the skeletons of her songs. Songs that reached a bigger audience through social media and were very well received. The BBC started playing her music she released as Daughter and newspaper The Independent tipped her as a One to Watch noting of her "beautifully-sung, literary folk" and her "ethereal melancholy". Her songs consist of tales of ghosts and drowning lovers all put into beautiful music. His Young Heart EP draws from a variety of songwriting sources; from Joni Mitchell and Natasha Khan right through to the XX and Jónsi. To have such a talented daughter is a gift.
