David Walters
ESNS: 2021
After five years of traveling the world and meeting musicians, Frenchman David Walters chose New York as the scene for his album Soleil Kréyol (Creole Sun). David’s grandfather was a Caribbean musician, tap dancer, and cook, who tried his luck in the city, and the album is a rhythmic tribute to his grandparents, his own Afro-Caribbean roots and his mother. His music is made with help from artists that share his passionate message including Seun Kuti, Vincent Segal, Ibrahim Maalouf, CéliAwa Ozana, Marine Thibault, Clem Chetaille and Olivier Koundouno.
