Duo Ruut's (‘Duo Square’) music is based on the common ground two young Estonian musicians and songwriters have explored since 2017. Their sound ties together a single Estonian zither and two distinct voices. As they are composing on one instrument Duo Ruut’s music is minimalist to its core, but packed with new and imaginative ideas. Their 2019 debut album was Debut Album of the Year (Estonian Ethno Music Awards 2020) and followed in 2021 by the internationally acclaimed EP ‘Kulla kerguseks’ (‘Golden Light’).
