Janine Tshela Nzua has Congolese origins but was born in Italy. She grew up in Turin, Paris and Brussels, before returning to Italy where, influenced by the sounds she encountered around Europe, she started her career as Epoque. In Turin she met Di Gek, afro trap, house and hip hop lover and mentor. Together they create a unique style, that looks to Africa, while winking at the lively French scene. Virgin Records moved quick and signed Epoque, the foremost promise of ‘Italian Afro Pop & Rap’.
