Frànçois and the Atlas Mountains
ESNS:
2012
From the southeast of France to the southeast of Britain, from Saintes to Bristol. That is the journey Fránçois Marry made when he was nineteen years old. After a short time the young Frenchmen could be heard in the music scene of Bristol with his own musical project. Together with an open collective called The Atlas Mountains he started to tour. As a support act for Electrelane, Panda Bear, King Creosote & Jon Hopkins and Camera Obscura in which Fránçois was a touring member on trumpet and percussion. Fránçois & The Atlas Mountains blends voices, keyboards and African percussion into instant French pop. Listen to the latest single Piscine as the perfect example of this combination. Apart from the many shows Fránçois & The Atlas Mountains have made several albums. After the fourth album Plaine Inondable the band collected numerous awards and selections. Next to Fránçois the band consists of three constant members; Amaury Ranger on percussion, together with the Scottish Gérard Black and Pierre 'Petit Fantôme' joining the band bringing their electro touch. It is the first French band to sing a record deal with Domino who have released their new album E Volo Love, an album inspired by the French poet Pregreen and the American band Talking Heads.
