Herrek is how people from Indonesia pronounced the name of Gerrit van der Scheer when he lived there, and his music is a dark and folky attempt to capture Gerrit's childhood years spent on Papua. Van der Scheer, by the way, is also the front man of Bonne Aparte and used to be guitar player in Adept. There are currently only two songs so far recorded by Herrek, but the music of this five-piece band from Groningen hypnotizes listeners. If there's one band that will play their own city fully prepared, it's got to be Herrek.
