KIN is the solo project of Kim R. Foster who moved to the Netherlands from England. Once here, Foster assembled a band with members from Vox Von Braun and The Swains. Musically it is relatively hard to characterise KIN; the dominant role of the bass in most of their sounds is reminiscent of the British wave sound, but the band does not run away from long hypnotic, almost minimalistic passages of atonal guitar eruptions. Influenced by bands such as Radiohead, Portishead and Warpaint, KIN released their second album SLOWTV this year, which displays a hallucinatory mix of post-rock and triphop.
