Marlene Bakker is a rare phenomenon in the Dutch music scene, a female singer/songwriter blessed with a stunning deep voice. Her music is unique because she writes and sings in a Low Saxon dialect called Gronings. March 2018 saw Marlene release her highly praised debut album RAIF. Never before was the Low Saxon dialect connected to cinematic arrangements that sound so contemporary, in which the songs of a singer/songwriter are carefully draped in dreamy and broad sounds. In 2018 Marlene captured hearts in the Netherlands, in 2019 she’s ready to cross borders.
