One could easily say that curiosity changed the life of Pablo Nouvelle. The Swiss producer started his musical career as a producer of hip-hop beats. By tracing back the origins of the samples he used he discovered the classic soul music of the sixties and seventies and it completely changed his perspective on music and his role in it. Under the moniker Pablo Nouvelle, a reference to French architect Jean Nouvel and the Nouvelle Vague movies of the sixties, he started applying his hip-hop techniques to soul and pop music. The result is a self-titled album that combines the sounds of The xx with Marvin Gaye, Radiohead with Donny Hathaway and Wu-Tang Clan with Gil Scott-Heron.
