Philco Fiction
ESNS: 2012
The misty fjord pop by Philco Fiction revolves around the voice of singer Turid Alida Solberg. It is just to easy to mention Nordic names Lykke Li, The Knife and Björk again as references. The description that it sounds like instruments yet to be invented emerging from an old gramophone may be better. Add the dreamy sounds of Soberg to it that caress your ears like beautiful rags of mist and you are close to the sound of Philco Fiction. The three from Oslo, Norway are difficult to define. They are active since 2002, years when they have explored and left behind different phases. The magic pop by Philco Fiction is shaped by a range of instruments and a playful attitude. Recent album Take It Personal made the critics proclaim they heard "some of the nicest sounds to come out of Norway this year!"
