Rams' Pocket Radio
ESNS: 2012
Less is better, that's the approach of designer Dieter Rams. He made pocket radio's and record players in the 1950's who strike an eery resemblance to current iPods and other Apple products. Peter McCauley from Lisburn in Northern-Ireland is a fan. He called his band  Rams' Pocket Radio and his contagious single Dieter Rams Has Got The Pocket Radios. McCauley makes his music in the way Rams makes his designs. Attention to detail, innovative and capable of making something extremely beautiful. Next to the designer McCauly names Björk, Jimmy Eat World, Mew and Radiohead as sources of inspiration. In the studio McCauley, he used to be the drummer of Mojo Fury, plays piano, drums, guitar and vocals. On stage he is accompanied by three musicians. With his six song EP on the internet Peter McCauley made lots of fans. From a BBC-presenter who can't stop listening to his music to Snow Patrol's Gary Lightbody who hailed Ram's Pocket Radio in Q an called him a frightening talent.
