To have some famous fans can be a nice vessel. And Rocketnumbernine fans are very famous, certainly very renowned. Rocketnumbernine consists of brothers Tom and Ben Page, who’ve played together in past efforts such as the post-rock band Rothko. After playing for four years as an improv duo they decided to cross the sound over and turned heads very quickly, amongst those heads: Four Tet. He discovered the brothers through drummer Steve Reid, a close friend to Rocketnumbernine's drummer Tom Page. "You can hear Steve’s influence and spirit in this music without doubt", says Four Tet. The brothers Page went on tour with Four Tet who heard the performances getting more and more intense each night. Just like the other fan, Thom Yorke, who asked the band and Four Tet to open for Radiohead in New York. Even Gilles Peterson is a firm believer in the British brothers. An illustrious song like Matthew & Toby takes 13 minutes yet bores not a second. Rocketnumbernine possesses the talent to grasp the attention of the listener and not let go. And that's just coming from a drummer and a guy behind a lot of machines. This music is like a spiderweb from heaven, something that is fun to get caught into.
