Russkaja
ESNS: 2014
At first, the combination of traditional Russian folk music and the Alpine landscape of Austria may seem mismatched. But wait until you hear the Viennese band Russkaja. They prove that polka dances and waltzes can happily coexist. This seven-piece ensemble got together in 2005 to make 'music for your health' and to get people moving. The prescription consists of a blend of Balkan beats, ska, polka, trash metal, jazz, funk and Zappa-esque rock, thus incorporating the total cultural and musical variety of its members. The result is a highly infectious and energetic live show that gets people on their feet and out of their minds.
