"If we leave the stage without a drop of sweat, we must have done something wrong". There you have the motto of Wout Kemkens, singer and guitar player of Shaking Godspeed. Kemkens is a musician who likes recording but rather performs. Not that there is anything to complain for the listener at home. On album Awe the trio from the Achterhoek sometimes, well most of the times, sounds like they are in front of you, in a dirty shed trying to blow up your eardrums, at other times they like to experiment with different meters. Shaking Godspeed enjoys performing. They don't need to get rich or famous, as long as they can play a lot and keep that up for a long time. "Although if I enter the studio and one of the band members tells me what it sounds like, the fun is over for me. I want to keep the illusion that it is different within the existing conventions", according to Kemkens talking about rock music that may sound familiar yet has always got the Godspeed touch. Like their friends of Automatic Sam sang: Keep On Shaking!
