SquAreHeAd
ESNS:
2012
Like a sort of time machine, that is how SquAreHeAd brings sunny music from the fifties and sixties to 2011. The band from Dublin, Ireland started of as a solo project for Roy Duffy. A live project where bass player Ian McFarlane was recruited when a 7" had to be recorded. That single drew attention to the band all over the country. Fake Blood was chosen as song of the year by blog Nialler9. Ruan van Vliet was enlisted to be the drummer of Squarehead and to assist the band with the many shows that followed. Audiences got to hear a mix of surf-pop harmonies, old school rock & roll rhythms and guitar jangles, SquAreHeAd draws inspiration from the melodies of The Beach Boys and Portland’s The Wipers. The three-piece have opened for Deer Tick, No Age and Titus Andronicus. Debut album Yeah Nothing feeds the ears with pop that shows old fashioned can be also very hip. To ahaaaahaa'along.
