Being a parent can make you surprisingly resourceful. As is the case with Sandra Sumie Nagano from Gothenburg, Sweden. The sister of Yukimi (singer of Little Dragon) began recording songs in 2008, a few years after becoming a mother. In order not to wake her children she kept the music subtle and delicate with just an acoustic guitar and her vocals. The daughter of a Swedish mother and a Japanese father, her music fits both current Scandinavian and Japanese folk strains. Her self-titled debut album was released on Bella Union (Midlake, The Walkmen, John Grant) and was recorded at Nils Frahm's studio.
