The Bewitched Hands
ESNS: 2012
Once they were called ThE bEwitCheEd HaNdS oN tHe ToP oF oUr HeAdS, but now it’s just The Bewitched Hands. This French band makes irresistible pop. A song like Work turns even the biggest grumbler into a cheerful chap. Their collective explosion during their performance at Dour festival was described as either caused by laughing gas in the tent or by The Bewitched Hands being the biggest revelation of the festival. An elvish version of The Doors, that’s what they call their music with high-pitched voices and the catchy melody. Yes, it is a bit weird, but weird in a good kind of sense. You can listen to their songs time after time and discover something new every listen, try it with the impressive Hard To Cry. They already started releasing songs in 2008, the first one got the short title The First Of The Non Electric Side Of The Bewitched Hands On The Top Of Our Heads. Eventually all songs ended up on the 25 track album Birds & Drums from 2011. An album that could just as well have had the subtitle The versatile universe of The Bewitched Hands.
