The Jacqueries
ESNS: 2012
The word Jacquerie became synonymous with peasant uprisings in late medieval Europe. The Jacqueries from Rome however are not rebellious at all. They are rather disarming. Listen to their cover of Macy Gray's I Try and nobody has to threaten anyone with a shovel to get on board with this band. The cover was released through the Italian edition of Rolling Stone magazine. After that the song Kitsch was released and since then the ball kept rolling. Their mix of American indie rock from the nineties and Italian trash from the eighties made this typical Italian collegeband an instant revelation. Their music made its way to Germany, Switzerland and Latin America. You may expect this from a band who have a song called , listen to it once and you'll follow them off a cliff.
