The Limiñanas
ESNS:
2014
What fun it must have been for Lio and Marie Limiñana to find inspiration for their band The Limiñanas. The couple formed the band in October 2009 initially as a home studio project. To decide how their songs were gonna sound they listened to records by John Barry and Ennio Morricone, flipped through books on Victorian era architecture, watched Noir films, and basked in the sun of southern France. Sounds more like a great holiday, right? It did pay off though as they were picked up by Chicago's Hozac Records before they even released a single. So far they've released three albums in which you can hear traces of Serge Gainsbourg, Beck, Stereolab, gospel and yeh-yeh pop.
