The Music Industry Therapist Collective (MITC) is proud to present: Surviving Success: Mental Health, Power, and Pressure in the Modern Music Industry. The panel brings together artist Jack Garratt, his manager Sarah Gates, MITC psychologist Anne Löhr, and moderator Laura Newton (MITC) for an honest, solutions-focused conversation about why mental health struggles in music are not personal failures but predictable outcomes of the system itself. Through Jack’s lived experience of early success, loss of autonomy, and intense industry pressure, alongside clinical insight and management perspective, the panel unpacks how power dynamics and unrealistic expectations impact both artists and teams. Moving beyond diagnosis to repair, the discussion explores what sustainable success actually looks like - centred on autonomy, clarity, communication, and boundaries - and asks what a meaningful duty of care should be in today’s music industry. This session is for anyone committed to building a healthier, more creative, and more resilient music ecosystem.
