For years, we’ve allowed Meta, Google, ByteDance and X to shape how we reach our audiences, manage our data, and tell our stories. Convenient? Certainly. Efficient? Without a doubt. Yet in doing so, we’ve traded away our digital autonomy. Meta now knows more about our visitors than we do. We build communities on their platforms, pay to access our own audiences, and operate within a system driven by profit rather than principle.
As political tensions between the US, Europe, and China grow, it’s becoming clear that this is no longer just about technology—it’s about conflicting ideologies. What does that mean for music venues and the cultural sector? What if Instagram disappears tomorrow, or Google Drive suddenly goes offline? How can we remain visible and connected without being subject to the whims of Silicon Valley?
Fuck Meta is not a boycott—it’s a turning point. A call to awareness, to explore alternatives, and to reclaim agency. How can we reinvent our communities and communication—making them fairer, more human, and more creative? Under the guidance of David Vogel (Hypersolid)—a designer and researcher exploring how technology and design can once again serve human values—music lover and creator—he will be joined by voices who have chosen to step outside Meta’s rulebook.
