Exactly 5 years ago he was still a keynote speaker at the ESNS Conference, and only six months later, he passed away unexpectedly: Steve Strange, founder of X-Ray and one of the architects of the live music industry as we know it today. As an agent Steve worked with legends like Coldplay, Eminem, Snow Patrol and Queens of the Stone Age. Although his story is not without its complexities, Steve was one of a kind, a real character whose influence was undeniable. This panel aims to take an honest look at his contributions, celebrating his achievements while also thoughtfully considering the more controversial chapters of his career. Five years after his keynote and his death, this panel will dive into the legacy of Steve Strange, not only to reproduce remarkable stories but also by asking what we, as an industry, have learned from him, what we continue to carry forward, and what we’ve perhaps chosen to leave behind.
