In times when short content is key, when artists self-promote a lot, produce their own documentaries and when traditional media are getting wicker, what’s the space left for independent music journalism? Controlling the narrative seems safer, and can somehow safeguard artists' mental health, as they get extremely solicited, visible, commented on… But what space is left for critical views, external (and necessary) points of view? Are we witnessing the end of independent music journalism, or will it actually revive when the sector realises they need other voices to tell their stories?
