In this panel, we celebrate independent festivals, the creative heart of Europe’s live music scene. These festivals thrive on unique programming in niches, strong community ties, and artistic freedom, yet face growing challenges in a world dominated by algorithms and viral trends. How do they continue to discover new talent, connect deeply with their audiences, and stand out amid an overload of new music? Together, we’ll explore how independent festivals can sustain their identity, grow alongside their communities, and carve out space in an increasingly competitive landscape.
This panel is presented by European Talent Exchange, a programme under the wings of ESNS. European Talent Exchange is a collaboration between 130 partner festivals, 26 European music export offices, 31 EBU radio stations and Yourope to fast-track the next wave of European artists by getting them on international stages. Together, they turn up the volume on fresh voices from every genre, language, and identity. The programme is cofunded by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union.
