Invite Only - The power of Alternative Nows

Envisioning the future, creating desired future scenario’s and constructing pathways towards these are of quintessential importance for building a resilient music sector. Emerging, purpose driven initiatives of all shapes and sizes, from music & tech start-ups to diversity & inclusivity initiatives and from nightlife safety collectives to new music production companies all have one thing in common: they strive towards building better futures for the sector that they are a part of. Futuring can be a great way to set your North Star as a company or as a person, but it is not without risks. The risk of too much focus on the creation of overly idealistic utopias without getting into action mode; the risk of creating futures for the few instead of the many, and most importantly, the risk of forgetting about the “Now”. There’s tons of tools, ideas and concepts currently available to help create those better futures, but these tend to be overlooked or disqualified. To put it more bluntly: less dreaming about the future, more acting in the now. For that, we need different perspectives or “Alternative Nows”. This invite only session is focused on creating and utilizing these perspectives. ESNS Science in close collaboration with Academy of the Arts (part of Hogeschool Zuyd) and Art-up is inviting a group of music sector start-ups in a capacity building session to collaboratively think about the future of the sector, their role in it, and how actions in the now can help create these better futures.
