The Organization for Recorded Culture and Arts (ORCA) is a global think tank and advocacy group established by some of the world's best-known independent record labels. In this panel, they present their second report, an in-depth study of the economic and social value of independent labels . The report not only outlines their investments, returns and significant artist payouts, it also describes the entwined creative relationship between artist and label, bolstered by expenditure that supports operational stability and tenured, well-trained staff. The report also demonstrates these labels' emphasis on gender equity where they over-index versus available benchmarks.The session will consist of a short presentation followed by a panel discussion.
