Assistant Professor in Sociology of Arts and Culture, Erasmus University Rotterdam
Kristina is Assistant Professor in Sociology of Arts and Culture at Erasmus University Rotterdam and a Visiting Fellow at the International Inequalities Institute at the London School of Economics and Political Science. She's currently the recipient of a VENI grant from the Dutch Research Council (2023-2027) and an Early Career Fellow of the Independent Social Research Foundation (2023-2025). Holding a PhD in Sociology from LSE, Kristina explores key sociological questions around inequality, social reproduction, and social change with a focus on the role of music, the arts, and the media. In particular, her work examines how inequalities of race, class, and gender are reworked in and through culture, ranging from wider cultural discourses of migration, citizenship, and belonging to concrete processes of material culture, media representations, cultural production, and creative labour. To that end, she draws from a range of approaches, including cultural sociology, cultural studies, urban studies, the sociology of work, critical race and migration scholarship, and Feminist epistemologies.
