With George Michael, Angel Olsen and the soundtrack to Vampyros Lesbos as formative influences, LuxJury fuse elements of pop and rock with soul–baring, self-effacing lyricism to create their sound. In 2024, Lux sent a self-released EP called Giving Up to Bella Union, expecting it to go straight into the Junk folder, and prepared herself for stopping writing music altogether. But the support of Bella Union has seen that EP morph into an album with the same title as the EP. Lux, who was basically rebelling against the radio pop of mainland Europe, has, ironically been led back to really appreciating some of that songwriting and guitar tone in her latest works.
