Exactly 5 years after the UK's withdrawal from the European Union, the full impact of Brexit on the music and touring industry has become increasingly clear. The consequences have been significant, particularly for the touring sector, where new barriers have made it more challenging for UK musicians to perform across Europe and vice versa. With the UK's political landscape continuing to evolve, it's time to take stock of where we stand and explore what the future might hold.

This panel will draw on recent research by the Musicians' Union (MU) to examine the critical issues facing the industry. Key topics will include the challenges EU festivals face when booking UK bands, the barriers smaller and mid-sized UK and EU acts encounter when trying to expand their reach into each others markets, and the broader economic impact on the music sector as a whole.

As we assess the current situation, we will discuss the need for collaborative efforts between the EU and the UK. What policy shifts or new agreements might be in the works? How can the UK government and the EU institutions cooperate to develop policies that support the music industry on both sides of the Channel?
