Streaming's Broken Record; where are my royalties?

How can songwriters struggle to make a living while streaming revenues keep growing? While in 2023 alone, music streaming platforms brought in a staggering $14 billion, recent studies indicate that most songwriters today earn less than $10.000 a year, while receiving only a meagre share of the revenues generated by streaming. What happened to songwriter royalties, and how can we make sure songwriters, who are at the very heart of music creation, get their fair share? Join our panel to explore possible solutions with us, from rethinking the unbalanced split between master and song rights, to demanding walk-in fees or “per diems” to help creators get by until real reform is achieved. This panel is organised by ECSA as part of the Creators’ Talks series, and co-funded by Creative Europe.
